Founded in 2013 by John Sheeley, EA, Tax Practice Pro was created to provide tax professionals with high-quality continuing education (CE), continuing professional education (CPE), and expert guidance—resources John wished had been available throughout his own career. Starting from his extensive experience in the industry, including 13 years as a multi-unit franchisee of a national tax firm and 5 years as a tax manager at a regional CPA firm, John recognized the need for flexible, accessible learning that could fit the demanding schedules of modern tax practitioners.

Today, Tax Practice Pro delivers live webinars, on-demand courses, and year-round support, with over 150 hours of new content added in 2020 alone. Portia Vogt

Portia Vogt is the Managing Partner of Twin Cities Tax in Prior Lake, MN. She focuses on Representationand Small Business tax clients. Twin Cities Tax has 4 employees, all of whom work most hours from their own locations remotely coordinating. Her practice has been able to deploy new technology due in part that her spouse, Michael Vogt, PhD specializes in artificial intelligences. Portia’s own degrees are in Business and Communications from Augsburg University, in Minneapolis. She is an Enrolled Agent and NTPI Fellow. Portia and her husband, Michael, have five adult children. Three sons’ serve in the Military and their two daughters both work in the entertainment & travel industry. Portia and Michael believe that professional education is key to achieving the American Dream and bothhave been sought out to teach in their fields. Portia loves to travel, motorcycling ,gardening, scuba diving and enjoys getting in exercise most days.

Rita leads Wolf’s International Tax Services Practice, specializing in tax planning and compliance for international holdings. She has extensive experience advising clients on cross-border business activities, structuring international investments, and navigating U.S. compliance obligations for both entities and individuals. Rita also serves as a trusted advisor to other tax professionals, helping identify reporting requirements, review work papers, and ensure accuracy in an ever-evolving international tax landscape.

Prior to joining Wolf, Rita was an Associate Attorney at Vacovec, Mayotte & Singer, LLP, focusing on international and domestic taxation, estate planning, and tax controversy. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Boston University School of Law’s Graduate Tax Program, where she co-founded and co-teaches “Foreign Information Reporting and Withholding.” Rita frequently teaches other international tax topics for Strafford Publications, Tax Practice Pro, and Wolters Kluwer, sharing her expertise with tax professionals nationwide.

Robert Kerr

Robert “Bob” Kerr brings extensive experience across the public sector, trade associations, and private sector in tax administration, tax policy, and public policy. During over a decade at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), he held key positions in both Washington, DC headquarters and the Chicago district office. While working in the Service’s artificial intelligence labs, Bob led two nationwide electronic filing pilot programs, coordinating across multiple functional areas. He also served on the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, assisting Senator Grassley with IRS oversight on issues ranging from private debt collection to relocation expenses.

Bob’s experience with the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) and H&R Block provides him with a deep perspective on the needs of tax professionals. He served as NAEA’s chief advocate for more than a decade, acted as primary spokesperson to tax and general media, founded its political action committee, and later served as head of office, championing the profession at every level.

Roger has been doing taxes since 2006. During that time he has been the General Manager for a large franchise in Atlanta as well as a Technology Manager for several tax franchises. Roger obtained his Enrolled Agent Status in 2011. Roger is also an NTPI Fellow. Prior to getting into taxes Roger worked as a Deputy Sheriff in Leon County Florida for 8 years. Roger was injured in the line of duty and moved into the tax field. He was awarded the Medal of Valor and Purple Heart by the Florida Sheriff’s Association.

Ruth advises individuals and families on estate planning and business planning opportunities, concentrating on international plans.Ruth’s work includes advising U.S. persons who hold foreign assets, helping U.S. persons to receive gifts in a tax-efficient manner, advising non-U.S. persons regarding how to hold U.S. real property, and administering multinational estates and trusts. All of Ruth’s advice is focused on U.S. planning. This can include the creative use of domestic or foreign trusts and business entities to accomplish client goals. Ruth enjoys working with local families on purely domestic plans as well.Ruth frequently collaborates with other advisors to develop a plan that works in all relevant jurisdictions. They have advised U.S. beneficiaries of foreign trusts regarding their U.S. tax positions and reporting requirements. Ruth works with foreign counsel to resolve problems that arise for foreign beneficiaries of U.S. trusts. Ruth advises families regarding gifts from non-U.S. persons to U.S. beneficiaries. Ruth also advises U.S. persons and trustees worldwide regarding information reporting obligations including the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA), Forms 3520 and 3520-A, and the Foreign Bank Account Report (FBAR). Ruth also advises local families and business owners regarding tax-efficient gifting strategies. Ruth is a lecturer at Boston University School of Law’s Graduate Tax Program and co-developed a new course on U.S. information reporting. Ruth frequently writes and speaks on topics related to international estate planning and U.S. taxation. In their spare time they enjoy travel, comedy, and learning foreign languages. Ruth has lived in Warsaw, Poland and in Oxford, England and has a working knowledge of Polish, Spanish, and German.

Tanya founded Tax Edge, an accounting, tax, and representation firm in her hometown of Grand Junction CO, expanded it to a second office in Delta CO and has been practicing over 30 years now, giving her a wide range of knowledge and experience to draw from.
