Andrea Valois has spent more than 18 years navigating the thrilling world of international tax — because apparently ordinary complexity just wasn’t enough. As Vice President of Operations at American Expat Tax Services since its inception in 2013, Andrea leads a team of highly skilled practitioners specializing in U.S. and Canadian cross-border taxation, international reporting compliance, and multi-jurisdiction tax planning.
Known for translating “IRS panic” into practical solutions, Andrea works closely with both clients and fellow tax professionals to identify international reporting issues, restore compliance, and develop sustainable long-term tax strategies. She is equally passionate about education, regularly helping practitioners worldwide better understand the ever-evolving landscape of international tax law — preferably before the letters from tax authorities arrive.
Before helping build American Expat Tax Services, Andrea led a team of 286 cross-border tax practitioners for one of Canada’s largest retail tax organizations, proving early on that managing complex tax matters and large teams pair surprisingly well with caffeine and color-coded spreadsheets.
On the rare occasion Andrea steps away from her office, she can usually be found fishing, camping in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, or making memories with her large family — all places where the only “filings” involve tackle boxes and campfire stories.

Catherine G. White is a Massachusetts native whose father was a tax accountant. She does not remember not knowing how to keep a double-entry ledger. Her first paid job was swapping out the CCH Master Tax Guide update pages for her father’s company. The practical experience from home allowed her to put herself through college working as a bookkeeper in a plethora of industries, from TV to medical services to construction to retail and more. She is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After a number of years as an engineer, she went back to keeping books and has had her own accounting and tax business since 1997. In 2003 she took the then 4-part Special Enrollment Exam and passed all sections that year. Her experience has led colleagues from several states to consult with her regularly on challenging tax issues including multi-year situations. She taught for the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents over a number of years, both at monthly meetings and at their two-day annual update courses in January of each year, as well as for other groups. Her goal is to help fellow tax professionals acquire the tools and approaches to tackle the real-life problems that walk through our office doors and can leave us flummoxed, flustered, and floundering.
