Description

FREE TO THE INDUSTRY

October 15 is not always the end of the extension road.

Certain individual taxpayers abroad may qualify for additional time to file through December 15, but the rules are easy to misunderstand and Form 4868 can create processing problems when it does not clearly reflect the taxpayer’s filing situation.

This free one-hour program examines when the December 15 filing deadline may apply, what happens when Form 4868 Box 9 is not checked, and how practitioners can use a protective extension request to reduce the risk of a return being treated as late.

We will also discuss who may sign an extension request, when a Form 2848 may be useful, and the circumstances under which another duly authorized person may sign on the taxpayer’s behalf.

This program is open to all tax professionals, at no charge.
